What When Where

Crossroads | À la croisée des chemins • This is the first exhibition as part of a North American tour.
Catalogue can be bought at Blurb.com (Catalogue will be $10 in gallery when the show is in Ottawa.)

  • Crossroads (press release) is a travelling group exhibition which promotes artistic and cultural products from francophone Ontario: its main concern is related to the creative process and how it affects identity. Twenty-two artists from BRAVO (Bureau des regroupements des artistes visuels de l’Ontario) create work through a fusion of modes of expression traditionally related to fine arts and arts and craft.
  • This exhibition not only targets an understanding of the creative process (relationship between fine art and arts and craft practices) but also it targets an inquiry related to the process by which one progressively attains or strives towards artistic identity. The artist must have self-confidence and the courage to embrace the opportunities or crossroads to think, to make and to see differently in order to attain authentic self-expression. This exhibition celebrates the artist’s sense of adventure and an openness to experience the new. The artists in this exhibition become models for those who dare re-invent themselves.

Palindrome : ecce (Presented by BRAVO-Est | Conceptualized by Prof Yves M. Larocque)
La Nouvelle Scène, Ottawa, ON

This was an event that touched Nancy on a very personal level since her brother was the inspiration for her palindrome. A palindrome is a word, phrase, number, or other sequence of symbols or elements, whose meaning may be interpreted the same way in either forward or reverse direction. The elements in this case were the art mediums: a painting and a video clip. The painting would be a "palindrome" of their video and vice-versa. Ten artists created their own palindrome concept and had an opportunity to present their story at the vernissage. More event photos...

exposition re-inventio
La Nouvelle Scène, Ottawa, ON

The opening night of re-inventio was a grand success! Nancy's painting (each artist was represented by one of their current works) is one of only two that sold on the opening night of this month-long exhibition. Her selected work was "rock face" which can be viewed in the landscapes section of the gallery.

The second piece she had on display for the remainder of the show was entitled "rhapsody" which can also be viewed in the landscapes section of the gallery. There was a fantastic selection of works from all of Prof. Yves Larocque's OSA Art Class (winter/spring 2012 students) and Nancy would like to thank all that came by to view her/their art throughout the duration of the event and on the opening night.

An exhibtion book featuring various works from each of the presenting artists has been prepared and is still available at blurb.com.

It is entitled:
re-inventio | se ré-inventer | re-inventing ourselves
